This is a pleasant surprise for pessimists like myself. I've been impressed with her voting record overall, though not necessarily on every point. What more can we legitimately hope for from a politician? I generally hope that whoever I vote for is bought by more people with whom I agree and that they stay bought. To get above the local level of politics, politicians must compromise every principal they ever had. They must do whatever it takes to get the money to win the elections or risk being completely ineffective and voted out of office. So, when you judge a politician, don't try to pick someone you'd want to invite over for dinner, pick someone that votes for legislation you want and against legislation you don't. Hillary has done a fine job at that. I don't hope for more let alone expect it. So, would I vote for her for president? Yes!! Definitely. And I'll wash my hands afterward as I always do. As for Rudy, I liked him overall. I thought it was great when he endorsed Cuomo over Pataki and suggested voting for Cuomo on the Liberal ticket. And I did. After that though, it seemed like the Republican party slapped him down so hard that he never stepped out of line again. I also did not like how he handled the taxi drivers in the city. He had some good changes he wanted to implement. The drivers were against them and wanted to protest, most especially because he was making them eat the cost of the improvements with no fare increase. The important thing though is that they wanted a peaceful protest driving slowly across a bridge during rush hour. He wouldn't let them. In my mind, regardless of anyone's opinion on the changes, the drivers had the right to protest. He denied them their right to peaceable assembly. This was unacceptable in my book and showed that he was starting to become somewhat of a tyrant, unwilling to allow his ideas to be criticized. He needs to learn to compromise more and allow other views to be presented. If he's right, he should be able to persuade people of that. He is a very persuasive individual. If it's Hillary vs. Rudy with Rudy on the Republican ticket, I would surely vote for Hillary for her less tyranical nature and for his willingness to align himself with the Republican party even during these times when the party has completely ignored its constituency in the formulation of its platform.

As a New Yorker, I at least, see your point. However, I would point out to you that at every step of the way politics is compromise. When faced with a choice of one or the other, always pick the best available. Hillary was the best by far. I was skeptical too.
