Posted by Misanthropic Scott on November 7, 2006, 6:51 pm, in reply to "Death of a Party" Unfortunately, somehow we (as in we the idiots) allowed the Republicans to make liberal a dirty word in politics. Somehow, we failed to point out that the opposite of conservative is progressive and the opposite of liberal is stingy! I came to this site hoping to hear of the attempts to resurrect this party. I have instead seen that no meetings have been held since May 2005. My next hope would be for the solution I would truly prefer, a zero party system. Though this is obviously idealistic, I would love to see a system where we vote for candidates rather than parties. The existence of parties other than the Demopublicans and the Republicrats is the next best alternative. Unfortunately, with the severe shift to the right that this country has taken, the best of the parties is now gone. Perhaps today things will begin to change. We can only hope for the best. Scott

I agree. I still identify myself as a Liberal whenever I'm asked about my party affiliation. No other party comes as close to my personal beliefs on good government.
