Even though I no longer live in NYC, I often enjoy watching NY 1 on cable, and was fascinated by the comments made by Mr. Masters, Chairman of the WFP today relevent to that Party's 'endorsement' of Freddy Ferer for Mayor. When questioned about Mayor Bloomberg's endorsement by the Liberal Party, he again referred to the Liberal Party as a 'discredited' Party. News flash for Mr. Masters; the Liberal Party was BETRAYED by Andrew Cuomo, who lied to us and Democratic leaders across NYS when he guarenteed that he was 'in the (Governor's) race to stay', then dropped out after he had milked Mr. McCall's campaign dry of financial reserves. This, by the way, is the same Andrew Cuomo who is now snifing around the state looking for support in his quest to run for Attorney General. Just waht NYS needs, an Attorney General with no morals, convictions, or backbone! Now, back to the WFP. They have been bragging throughout the state that they were responsible for bringing down Albany County District Attorney Paul Clyne and electing David Soares as DA. Let's set the record straight: the WFP was partly responsible for ELECTING Mr. Clyne in the 1st place, when they joined with the Green Party in supporting an ultra-left candidate for DA who siphoned off just enough votes to deny the progressive Republican fusion candidate the election. Mr. Clyne then failed to prosecute Albany cops for gunning down an innocent civilian on a busy Albany street on New Years Eve, failed to properly prosecute the legal cousel for the Assembly majority when he was accused of rape (for the 2nd time!), and generally being more interested in harassing Albany citizens than pursuing REAL criminals, white collar or otherwise. When he came up for re-election, Homer Simpson would have beaten him, let alone a qualified and attractive candidate like Mr. Soares. It was NOT the WFP that beat the unqualified Paul Clyne, it was the WELL qualified David Soares! This year, the WFP took an active role in several Albany city races; they LOST the vast majority of those races, including the high profile Albany Treasuers race. At least when the Liberal Party endorsed candidates they WON the primary, and we didn't have to break the law by invading another party's primary; our candidates won their primaries BECAUSE we endorsed then!
