Posted by Richard Sedlisky on September 3, 2005, 3:53 am Many questions abound as to why it took so long for the forces of hope to arrive and what will be done and how quickly. Finger pointing between the Republicans and Democrats in typical slash and burn ideological fashion have begun to be the lead-in of media pieces rather than the focus remaining on Americans who suffer at the behest of nature. The Democrats and Republicans say nothing as to how our citizens will find new homes and how our citizens will find some semblance of the American life they knew, perfect or imperfect. The Working Families Party in deceased left-wing tradition, points fingers, calls everyone "brother and sister" and yet offers nothing but Democratic Party rhetoric. The Conservative Party remains silent. This week and the time to follow is not the time for political jockeying. This is the time to take care of our own. In the true American spirit, the average "American" took action, going from door to door all along the Gulf Coast. Yet, the extremly small percentage of people who raped received the limelight, which was the focus of the daily "gossip tabloilds" who call themselves newspapers. Those "newspapers" are conservative-owned and operated and do not speak the entire truth. We know better. There will be plenty of time for critcism. Now is the time to help in whatever way anyone can as all help counts. Shortly after 9/11, the State of Louisiana sent a much needed fire truck to the City of New York. The truck, named "Spirit of Louisiana" serves in Brooklyn, NY. The people of the Gulf Coast and the City of New Orleans were here for us. We are here for you. We are one. Richard Sedlisky
