Posted by daniel Peterson Our State Constitution needs to be changed to add term limits. I used to think term limits takes away my right to vote for the candidate of my choice, but as I've gotten older, I noticed that too many people ignore all political races outside of the presidency. We don't need carreer politicians like Silver and Sanders in office for two decades. Term Limits, if anything, allows for a new crop of candidates to pop up and try to stir the pot and draw interest to local races. I'm noticing it happen this year with the huge selection of candidates (on the Democrat's side at least) for local offices. Ten Manhattan BP candidates in the democratic primary. Eight Democrats for my Council District. Now if the Republicans weren't fearful of primaries, perhaps we would have more NY residents interested in who their local representitives are.

I think it would be really important for a challenger to take on Silver in next year's election. Whether it's a Liberal Party or Republican Party candidate, if there is one Assembly seat to change over next year, it is Silver's.
