Whether or not the proposed West Side Stadium would have been beneficial is not the point. The point is that Speaker Silver and many in the Democratic Party did not look at the proposal objectively. Why? Simple. New York Republicans were in the drivers seat, including New York City's RINO (Republican In Name Only) mayor. Had the Democrats been running the show most likely we would have witnessed a different outcome. Speaker Silver's actions were self-centered, divisive and not in the best interests of New York City. Speaker Silver is your typical, run-of-the-mill Machine Democrat who has been in power much too long. The Democratic Party can do themselves a favor by retiring people like Speaker Silver and other Machine Democrats. The Democratic Party can do itself a favor by joining the real world and working with other political parties for the betterment of New York rather than continuing in their dream of attempting to create a one-party state. Today, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver single-handedly destroyed any possibility of New York City being the host to the 2012 Olympics and the 2010 SuperBowl.
