Is there any possiblity that his name was originally Hamilton. I have heard that a few Hamiltons shortened their name to Ham.
There a lot of Hamiltons, some were in Kentucky, at the same time my Robertson's were, (ca 1800-1850).
The reason I mention this, is that my 37 marker DNA test show that I match Hamiltons match 3:1 over my Robertson's. Possibly just that more Hamiltons have done DNA tests, but I don't know
