Lost ancestress

I am trying to find out anything possible about a Susannah Johnson b. 1760=1780. (Birth location unknown). From her marriage to Joseph Rainey Robertson 24 Nov 1795, and going back 21 years, I would put her birth at somewhere about 1775 +/- 5 years.
I am beginning to wonder if she was of Native American (Cherokee?) ancestry. The reason is that many of the Scots married into the Native American population, Johnson is found among the Cherokee, Mahala was a popular name for girls, and they named a daughter MAHALA! They also named a son Johnson Robertson. (My ancestor)
Any help will be greatly appreciated and we will share anything we have on their 8 children.
