I have done all the research that I can. My earliest known Burks ancestor was Charles Burks, who migrated from VA to KY, and founded Burks Spring Distillery in Loretto, KY. Established in 1803, it's the present day location of Maker's Mark. I descend from his son, Richard Floyd Burks (1783-before 1850); then Richard Floyd Burks (1826-1895); then Richard Floyd Burks(1854-1928); then my Grandma Mary Pearl Burks Steinauer, then my mom, then me.
