Posted by Gary P. I have mostly followed the rule of thumb to water deeply and infrequently. Although this depends on the type of soil you have. My green is natural soil, with a fair amount of sand incorporated into the rootzone over the last couple years, so I find myself watering it a bit more than I used to do. I usually do not wait for signs of stress, if I can help it. Someone on this site several months ago posted new theories on watering. He attended a turf seminar with reknowned agronomists and one Dr. said to water nearly every day. So there are some vast differences of opinions on this issue of watering. Although my bottom line on this issue is to water a couple times per week fairly deeply, unless it rains during the week. Also don't be afraid to hand water drier areas of your green, to keep things from drying out too much. Gary
