back lapping sprocket attachment

I have a 7 blade Mclane reel mower and have manual brushed lapping compound on each of the blades and spun the blades backward by hand to sharpen. Does anyone know a way to attached a cordless drill with some type of rigged up device to fit over the sprocket so it will spin backwards. I have seen the hand cranks but I do not see how they attach to the main axle and I don't believe the sprocket comes off at least easily. Thanks
