no problem. what i mean is specific traits that are past from generation to generation. bullier bred dogs have more of a tendency to pass bad genetic traits common with bully breeds. in my experience with this breed for the past decade or so, i see very different and distinct qualities that are consistent with the types of coats that they have. from what i've learned, back in the day, the three most popular studs were Beamer(red), Odie(white), and Crib(brindle). in my experience, many of these brindle, bully dogs may have splayed paws, weak pasterns, loose turned-out elbows, bad bites(wry jaw), skin problems, etc. but alot of these same dogs also have real kick @$$ rear ends, great tails, and nice heads, if not nice muzzles. i've also known some of these guys to be hyperactive with a lot of what i call scattered energy. others call it insanity!
crappy copy of this pic, but even though this girl looks like shes posing, you cant see her paws, her elbows are turned out, and tongue is hanging to one side. shes got a nice butt, though. i love that roached back, but very bully. -i love that pump handle tail! as far as i've seen, red dogs are generally not conformation dogs, but they seem to be the healthiest, most athletic and smartest of the bunch.
Raw Dawgs Beth. kinda old in this pic. she was bred more for athleticism and agility. not at all for show. she was healthy and tight all the way to her passing, r.i.p., girl. and she past those healthy traits on big time!
she was a very genetically dominant dog. Beth's son Theo is in this pic. his daddy was old Valley View stock. but he is build like an athlete, not a show dog. definitely a mama's boy!
Hagar, on the right. is a better example of that older Valley View stuff. he is a show dog 100%. i love this guy, but my friends laugh at me and ask where his neck is! he loved to play but was not a working dog at all. these white dogs hardly ever were. these dogs were bred soooo bully that you dont even see guys like this anymore. he's playing with Tanner in this pic. another very bully dog. this pic is about 12 years old. r.i.p. Hagar, my whole family misses you. mixing up the bloodline does not necessarily result in better dogs. neither does crossing. outcrosses seem like a quick fix to diversify blood, but its only a matter of time before some funky stuff comes up and bites you in the butt! been there, done that. i have had EXCELLENT results crossing with english bulldogs, but i never utilized them. i am afraid i will taint my blood more than add to it. regardless of the fact that my crosses look more like o.e.b.'s than a lot of real o.e.b.'s do. Bee just doesn't need it. knowing the dogs in your pedigree, selective breeding, and giving the dogs the time to grow and mature before you breed is the best bet. these two little ones are from the same litter. their parents are both red dogs and a predominately red litter, but the parents both had old Valley View stock back in the pedigree. so the white one is somewhat of a throwback. i was not looking to keep any dogs from this litter, but i feel i found something special in this white dog. he looks like Valley View, but so far he displays the heart and determination of the Royal Blood/Raw Dawg reds. sort of a wolf in sheeps clothing. i want to see what he grows into before i use him, if i use him. so hes a long term commitment that i would not trust placed with breeding rights or a co-owner. i feel Bullet is alot like this dog(so far). at first he appears like his mama bred heavy on that old Rosa gene, but upon closer inspection he's better. again the heart of the red dog. bully, but not to the extreme like other brindles that i've seen. my objective is to find a perfect balance between looks and ability. but not to overly emphasize on either. i feel that i am very fortunate to have a looker from working lines. i want to keep it up and take it to the next level. when i was looking for a pup, this is what i wanted.
she is a really flashy female bred by Royal Blood Bulldogs. a real nice combo of the red and white dogs. i feel Bees head is cleaner and body is leaner, but this is one of my favorites of the breed.
