Posted by Janet B. Cannon My source on the murder of Thomas J. Tucker was an elderly She said that the Sheriff handled the estate of Thomas. I have searched for an account of this but have found nothing. Surely it was noted somewhere. Did the shooter go to prison? Who was he? Why did he shoot Thomas? I have not found a cemetery that lists his name.

My gg-grandfather was Thomas J. Tucker. He was shot in the back at a Turkey Shoot in Adair Co. This occurred about August 1858.
family member who had heard the story all her life. She lived with her grandmother who was the daughter of Thomas J. Tucker. She didn't know who did it; but the man's sister told people that he had loaded his gun at her house and threatened Thomas there at his sister's house. She didn'tknow what happened after that.
