I have been trying to research my grandfather's family tree for 11 years to no avail. The story told to me was that my grandfather grew up in Louisville he was born in 1920. He had an older sister her name was Goldie? His parents name were Philip and Maude.The last name, my maiden name is Shooski. The story continues that his parents died in a car accident in 1939. My grandfather said he was in the car. He said he didn't see his sister since his parents died. My grandfather came to New York and doesn't show up in any records until that time. I have been in touch with the filson club ,the libraries,vital records and couldn't wait for the 1930 census to come out but again the surname wasn't listed. This leaves me to believe he changed his name. Please if anyone can help with even a small lead ....
