Cleve Ellis Lost Family Connection

Cleve Ellis ran away from home when he was a young boy. Some think he may have hurt or killed his stepmother and this is why he ran. He ended up in Chattanooga, TN. He had a twin brother. Cleve is my grandfather. Social Security tells me his father is Elijah Ellis and that Cleve was born 19 Mar 1885 in PineKnot, Williamsburg, KY. I can't find any records to confirm. Do you know anything about this mystery? Thank you in advance for help.
