Matt, Good question, and being a former kart constructor I investigated this when the AX8 first became available (a long time ago now). From what I remember the kingpin inclination was the same on the 6 and 8, but the 8 had an extra set of holes for a narrow front-end setup (why?). Wheelbase was the same on both the 6 and 8. There were also cosmetic differences. The one difference that stood out was the seat position. On the 8 the seat mounts are further forward. I can only guess that there were advances in tyres that resulted in a different weight distribution requirement (ie more to the front). Those with AX6s would potentially run out of seat adjustment as they tried to find the optimum set up. This is supported by what I see of AX6s running around on todays tyres at say Whyalla, the further forward the seat, the faster they generally go. My advice on the AX6 would be that it was a good kart in it's day, but it's near impossible to find one with reasonable life left in it. Next time I'm in Whyalla, I'll check this out again, in case my memory has failed me. regards, Jeff
