Posted by Mystery MNT Arabians & Paints Here is what you need…… Requirements to stream online through Mare Stare…. i.What is the distance from your house (computer) to your barn (camera) ii.Is it a clear line of sight? iii.Is there a possibility of a lot of interference in the area (wireless signals) – We are in an increasingly busy neighborhood with an airport in close proximity. We use wireless cams and our barn is less than 300 feet from our house, but we have to use boosters and it is still a poor feed. It’s due to all the interference. Is Wired possible? If so, that’s what I would go with. Wireless is more convenient for moving the cams, the wired is going to be the most reliable/clear feed. You do not have to buy an expensive cam – go to Wal Mart and look at their security cams – or go to Sam’s and look but do NOT get an X10 – they work great at home but the feed does not come through on the internet. Video Capture Device – we sell a device called at dazzle 80 which we recommend for it’s ease of use. There are other devices you can get at your local electronics stores – however do not purchase a newer version of the Dazzle. They lock up the computers and cause too many issues. There are others we can recommend, but it may be best to start out at your local store and get their assistance. This may seem like an overwhelming amount of information, but we will walk you through every step – promise. Don’t be afraid to ask questions….I’ll answer as best as I can.

So I plan to add a Foal cam to my site this spring and thought others might like to know how easy and cheap it can be:
Computer – needs to be windows 2000 or better. It’s also a very good idea to go to our cams help page and make sure you have all the updates for Windows. Internet connection – the faster the better, but we are streaming cams on dialup, so just about any connection will do.
Camera – this is the hardest part of the equation. Things to determine when purchasing a camera: Do you want wireless? If so…
Software – once you have all this in place we will send you a link to our software which you will download and install for free.
Webpage – we will create a page that will be hosted on our site and will hold your streaming feed. It will be personalized in a manner that matches your current website, or if you don’t have a website, we will use your suggestions on the look you want.
