We've had a number of people contact me who want their leukemia positive cats to participate in our FeLV cobra venom study – for a total of (44 cats including those already at the sanctuary). We need more (a total of 50), so, please, continue asking your friends (or vets) to consider having their FeLV positive cats participate in this important study. Leukemia positive cats don't need to be euthanized! We'll take them. No harm will come to them, I guarantee it!
Three of the people who contacted me are from different parts of the country: Indiana, Virginia, and Louisiana. Each has one cat -- but they do not have the ability to drive the cats to us.
If you know someone driving to Florida
from Chicago, Wisconsin, Michigan or Indiana who can pick up a cat in northwest Indiana near Crown Point, off I-65, or
from Texas or Alabama who can pick up a cat in Brousard, LA off I-10 west of New Orleans, or
from NY, the northeast, Washington D.C. or Virginia who can pick up a cat in Virginia Beach, VA on the Atlantic Ocean but near Richmond VA
please contact me at 954-254-1375 so I can link the owner to the transporter. These cat owners will contribute gas money.
Transporters could be snow birds or students returning to Florida.
The cat from Indiana has to be picked up before October 25 and the others before the end of October.
As word of this study spreads, I'm sure I'll be getting other requests to transport leukemia positive cats to our sanctuary. If you know someone from anywhere in the US or Canada that will be driving to Florida before November, please let me know so I can put them in touch with those who can't bring their cats to us.
