and to verify it truly was the infamous Joseph Barnes, I said "and you have a cat named Patches"??? And he said "yeah, do you have her?" That's when my heart sank. And when he described what happened with the nat'l guard, I realized how clueless he was to the magnitude of what he'd done, and realized at that moment, we'd never find her. It still didn't stop us from looking, but in my heart I knew she was gone. Driving to work today I thought about putting her picture nationwide, out there, everywhere "Have you seen Patches?"...but even if someone did have her, I doubt they'd give her up. Also, to whom? She by now is settled and hopefully living a comfortable wonderful life. I'd never uproot her again. But I'd give anything to know - providing it was a happy ending of course. Anything else, I'd rather never know. God bless you darling Patches where ever you may be purring right now.
