Posted by rose in passing i would have these thoughts...i watched Peaceable Kingdom, a documentary by Tribe of Heart. also watched The Witness my library was kind enough to find the documentaries in libraries many states away. both documentaries were at the same time heart breaking and heart healing. i cannot recommend them enough. however, there are many who will not watch because it will make them question their own participation in the cruelty of this earth, our mother earth. The Witness is how one kitty changed the entire life of one man and how he now is changing the lives of others. Peaceable Kingdom is how the factory farm animal beings are being tortured each and every second...and how one couple decided to give themselves to this cause and thru this calling lives of animal beings and human beings has been forever changed. there is nothing more 'satisfying' that to feel morally justified. the plight of the Katrina animal beings gave many that opportunity, and oddly, on different sides of the fence. the magnitude of the horror broke many...i was just looking at Shannon's memorial page once again. what is missed in all of this is that each one of us contributes to the suffering of this earth, our mother who homes all the living beings, when we say this one i will save and this one i will eat. um...maybe to rephrase...because i do believe that if one wants to eat meat they can do it with compassion and respect and honor. however, what happens to animal beings in the agra-farming industry...yes, industry...should never happen to any living being...yet it happens to the smallest newborn chick to the dairy cows whose udders drag the ground just so we can have milk and cheese. and oh how the cows wail for their taken young. we like to say we are good and loving of animal beings...but in honesty we have to clarify that...we are good and loving to some animal beings...but only some. if we are honest with ourselves...truly...only some. i think that is the thing that has troubled me most about the Katrina animal beings. i have no doubt that they agreed on a higher level to go thru what they did to show humanity something...to show us our inhumanity. now the talk turns to closing up shop...moving on...and to me, what the Katrina animal beings went thru is lost on a sleeping population. the Katrina animal beings showed us by the thousands that they have deep feelings...they suffer, they long, they wait, they hope, they give up. the cows, chickens, pigs, turkeys, goats, and every other animal being that is farmed, manipulated and consumed has these same qualities. but it is lost on a population that will have pot roast for supper, milk with cereal, cheese with cheesy things...and behind every pot roast or cheesy thing is an animal being that has suffered more than you can possibly imagine. who will be brave enough to watch the documentaries...and carry the message forth. for as long as we live in violence then we will beget violence. until all life is sacred then no life will be sacred. until the violence in our own lives stops the violence will continue... and the animal beings will continue to suffer...but not because of 'them' but because of 'us'. rip? how about... never to forget you Katrina angels...you were mourned but never understood.
