His story:
>>Katrina. He used to live happily with a bunch of other cats and two
>>humans:
>>Mary Jo and Fritz. Their home was not flooded, but when New Orleans was
>>cut
>>off from the outside world, Mary Jo had to be evacuated for medical
>>reasons. Fritz stayed with the cats. He also cared for other animals in
>>the
>>neighborhood. He died of stroke around September 20.
>>
>>Most cats from were removed from the household and taken to the temporary
>>animal shelter at Lamar Dixon center. Some of them later perished, some
>>others were adopted. Gizmo somehow got out and was found months later by a
>>friend and neighbor. He was starving and suffered from severe diarrhea.
>>After a long course of treatment his stomach problems got under control.
>>However, in order to prevent their recurrence, Gizmo has to be fed
>>exclusively Hill's z/d Prescription Diet.
>>
>>Since Katrina Mary Jo has been stranded at a medical facility in Northern
>>Louisiana. She has lost her home, her husband, and her cats. Because of
>>her
>>medical problems she may never be able to have any of her surviving cats
>>back. Most of them have found caring new homes. Gizmo is still looking for
>>one.
>>
>>Gizmo is presently boarded at Prytania Veterinary Hospital in New Orleans.
>>It is a very expensive solution and thus we urgently need at least a
>>temporary home for the poor cat. We will be happy to cover the cost of his
>>special food. Please contact us if you can help.
If you would like to see his picture then email me - I can't quite figure how to post it here but might work it out later!! He is an elderly tabby who needs some TLC for his final time.
