Sorry you feel this way, Dan. Fortunately for me I don't care about a recording contract.I play music and write music for a creative connection to myself. I enjoy when others feel that way about it too.(Uncle Earl is a side project that is purely paying homage to music I respect, and there is really nothing new in it.) Fame is really an unreal thing, and I don't play music for it. I'd be writing pop songs otherwise. Let's face it, life is only fulfilling if you do what makes you feel alive and creative. Selling my ass is not going to make me feel alive. I counsel prostitutes in my psych practice and trust me on this one
The people I deeply respect and listen to in music are people like Tom Waits, Howe Gelb and Buddy & Julie Miller. They are not spring chickens. The guys in my band are my family and they are more important to me than a record contract. And my songwriting is my first love. If you listened to my songwriting you would know I don't care about fame. Valuing wisdom and deep connection to this moment is my spiritual life (which is my life). Fortunately for me others feel very different than you about my solo work. Thank you for your input.
