When it comes to our children, the happiest memories are the easiest to remember. We can only hope they find the happy memories of us as parents. I am finding as they become adults, they sometimes can hold onto the times where we had to parent and do the opposite of what they wanted. Beyond the teen years, sometime young adults can pull one of those memories out of their memory bank and expect it to be justified. Makes me chuckle a bit, my mom always told me, "Your kids are going to do the same thing to you." when I would question them as a young adult. Needless to say, she was right. Makes me appreciate her wisdom so much more now, as a parent.
