Thanks for your wishes, Louis! You are probably gearing up for Bastille Day soon too.
I can't say I did anything particularly outstanding for the holiday, but it was a good day -- in fact, the whole weekend was that way. We had unusually nice weather, warm and not humid. My hubby and I are cleaning out some messes in the house and throwing away some old things. It feels good to lighten the load, so to speak.
This was the first Independence Day we've spent at home in several years. For years we would go to his parents' place in Ohio for the holiday, because it was also his dad's birthday. Since his dad died three years ago, we still continued to go there to spend the time with his mom. But now she's gone too, so the reason for traveling no longer exists. We walked over to an open field not far from our local fireworks display and watched them with hundreds of other people. They did a good job with the fireworks, and it was a beautiful, cool night. Going to the National Mall to see their fireworks would have probably been more spectacular, but getting there and back on the Metro would have been a hassle. We enjoyed our free-and-easy way of doing it!
