You are so right Penny. Nicely said!!
I had to laugh because you know hubby was a Marine, so, I know there is a competition with the different branches of armed services and when he says "Army" the tone of his voice just makes me laugh. I did ask him if the woman on the phone argued with him like the Marine representive did to me when I told him I didn't have a car for Phillip to use he called me back and said "I will come pick him up." I was like "Listen Mister, don't mess with me, I am not in the mood." LOL Hubby said she did argue with him but he put her in her place quickly that she wasn't going to convince him that this would be something Rachel would ever consider. Rachel wouldn't, she is much to sensitive like her mom to ever join the service. It is not her calling in life. It is funny to me how these representives feel the need to try to convince us of that as parents.
I have a client at the salon that is getting ready to go to Iraq in March. He has been there once already and so many that were here at the salon when he was here the other day feel bad and want to embrace him and thank him for his service. He is so cute, he was just in here the others day and all the woman in the salon hugged him before he left, he just says, "Thank you Mame" to all of them as they hugged him with tears in their eyes. We forget, these guys are trained to do their job there and he is almost excited about going back over. I tried to explain that to everyone after he left, but, it is heartbreaking to know he is going to go to such a dangerous place. It doesn't effect him either way as he does what he is told by his superiors. So very nobel and attractive on our young men. He is such a sweetheart, we all promised lots of homemade cookies while he is there. Last time he was there, he adopted a wandering dog and asked everyone to send dogfood and treats. I do his moms hair too so we all helped out with that. So very precious that they stand so talk and proud for their country. Warms my heart.
It is great too that they have support groups for the family members left behind. his mom is here alone when he goes to Iraq and she finds great support with the other families that have the same situation. She stay very involved with them and I think it helps her a great deal. Those are the things we fail to hear about when it comes to the families left behind. the support groups are amazing if you choose to take advantage of them.
