A piece of paper can never truly contain the sacredness of two soul's connection. Marriage is a sacred bond for me. But if one thinks about it, look back to the pioneers, the wild west, people in the outskirts throughout the ages. Was there always a priest around to marry them? Was there always a town hall to register the marriage? I think not. So what do we say about our ancestors who had children without the benefit of marriage? - or without the opportunity to become officially married?

Exactly! It's more than a piece of paper. Obviously in our legally-oriented society the paper protects the mutual benefits of an "official" marriage. 296
