Posted by eVe on 11/2/2006, 7:47 pm, in reply to "Happy Halloween!!!" Thanks for the good wishes. We had alot of fun on Halloween. Took my sons and their friends to the midnight performance of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" at a local university. They had wanted to go last year but our schedule wouldn't allow it. After making the rounds to drop-off their friends, finally returned home around 4AM. We're not going to be able to make a DC trip this autumn...but maybe in the spring for the cherry blossoms? Our next adventure will be a visit to Dr. Gunther Von Hagen's Body Worlds. (http://www.mos.org/bodyworlds/) Noticed over at silverhawks that Brad was working with Habitat for Humanity in India. Last spring when asked in person to fill out some surveys regarding what to spend the student activity budget on, the kids had suggested that their college do something for the teenage Katrina victims. In response, this year the college is sponsoring a Spring Break trip to work with Habitat for Humanity in N'awlins. The kids want to go...but I'm exhausted. Missed a week of classes to visit Chicago and it was tough to bounce back. Lot's of stuff going on...will fill y'all in another time. Sorry I couldn't meet up with you Penny...you were busy with your new job transition...plus my older son wanted to visit The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago for a one-day conference and a tour of their robotics labs. He's very interested in designing replacement limbs that look & act like the real thing. We ended up dedicating 2 of our 5 days there. 2 of the 3 other days were coordinated with my husband. And the other day we ended up with another kid tagging along with us. One of my husband's colleagues attending my husband's conference asked me if we'd take him. Couldn't say no as the alternative would have been the young teenager spending his day in the lobby of a hotel. We had a lot of fun. Managed to take in the King Tutt exhibit at The Field Museum, checked out the Art Institute, and the German Sub at the Museum of Science & Industry...squeezed in a stop for sushi too It's been a busy autumn...you'll never guess...can't believe it myself...life has been very chaotic since the beginning of June...amidst this continued chaos I had a heart attack on September 1st! No permanent damage thank God...just can't take my anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) anymore. Still have to schedule a stress test (but that'll mean 4 hours)...will have to wait until after Dec 13th...also have to schedule an echocardiogram. I thought it was some sort of panic attack...and took a bath to try to calm myself down...one of my friends keeps joking I'm the only person she knows that took a bath during a heart attack! When my husband found out the next day, he wanted me to go to the ER...my resting pulse stayed around 96 for a couple of days but I wouldn't go since there really wasn't anything they were gonna do to change anything except say "take an aspirin a day". Must say...it was a seriously scary experience.
