Judges Brief
Project Host BBQ Cook-off May 5 & 6, 2017 Location: 320 South Hudson St. Greenville, SC 29601 Judges Meeting 9AM -May 6th Please be on time
Thank you to each of the judges who signed up to participate in Project Host BBQ Cook-off Saturday, May 6, 2017. The event is at a new and better location than it was last year. New location 320 S. Hudson St.. Judges will assemble at the large tent on the left. On the right you will see the Swamp Rabbit Trail and Judges parking. Come, arrive early, sign in, mingle, as the judges meeting will commence promptly at 9 AM. We will be judging 2 categories: BUTTS & RIBS. The turn in time for BUTTS is officially 10 AM with the first horn blow at 9:50 AM. The turn in time for RIBS is 11 AM with the first horn blow at 10:50 AM. I need to know if any of you will be receiving aprons or advancing to Senior or Master Judge so I can have the proper supplies. IMPORTANT REMINDERS: 1.If any of you have a family member that is cooking with a team at the Project Host event, I need to remind you that you will not be able to judge in this event. We do have other duties that you can do but you will not be able to judge in this event. Let me know if any of you fit into this category. 2. ABSOLUTELY “No talking, discussion of the tasting that is being done between the judges” until all scores have been tallied and verified. No pictures of the sample boxes will be taken. The table captain will facilitate and let everyone at their table know when the BBQ is open for discussion! 3. No fraternizing with the cookers prior to judging. After judging is completed, you are encouraged to visit the cook sites. But PLEASE DO NOT DISCUSS what you tasted at the table with the cooks. THERE WILL BE ASSIGNED SEATING AT THIS EVENT. YOU ARE ASSIGNED TO TABLE #. SEE ATTACHED DIAGHRAM You are also invited to come out Friday Evening (May 5th) for the Wing competition. The event will be using local First Responders and celebrities as judges but we will need SCBA table captains.
Lastly, I count on each of you to be there if you signed up for this event. We all know that our schedules change from time to time and if this happens, I kindly ask that you notify me so that I know how to prepare appropriately. I am looking forward to seeing each of you at the Project Host event.
