A big thanks to the SCBA Marshall's and Judges for a great job in Spartanburg this weekend. An especially big THANKS to Judy Lindsey, and other Calculator, for getting the scores of three meats from 50 cookers tallied in record time and emerging from the judges tent with her usual big smile. Also a big thanks to the organizers and their staff for a smooth running contest and assembling huge crowds to enjoy the meat we cooked. A job well done for that were involved.

A big THANKS to all the Cook Teams and Judges who participated in the Second Annual Hub City Hog Fest this past Friday and Saturday in Spartanburg. This year’s event had 50 teams competing in Sauce and Wings on Friday night and Butts, Ribs and an option for Brisket on Saturday.
Congratulations to all who got a call: Butts: 1st Place - County Line Que 2nd Place – Elite BBQ Smokers 3rd Place – FATSO’s Competition BBQ Team
Ribs: 1st Place – Men at Work BBQ 2nd Place – Tex-A-lina Cookers 3rd Place – Palmetto Pitmasters
Brisket: 1st Place – Palmetto Pitmasters 2nd Place –Tex-A-lina Cookers 3rd Place – Mac’s Smoke Shop
Grand Champion – Tex-A-lina Cookers
On Friday night, “Men at Work BBQ” took 1st in Sauce and “The Southern Way by Water Solutions” took 1st in Wings.
On the SCBA side, Judi Lindsey and Mike Sexton did a superb job in handling so many calculations. Jim Grove, John Walsh, Marcia Adkins, Marque Kilpatrick, Michael Bohm, Tommy Kidd, Tony Lindsey and Trin McAlister all handled Table Captain duties. Don Adkins, Dawn Verbarg, Teena Bohm and Zach Cornwell worked the two receiving tables ensuring an efficient and quick turn-in process. Bill Walsh, Mike Horne and Ken Hilliard each handled a Novice table preparing the way for 23 soon to be Certified Judges.
Lastly, Joe and I would also like to thank Cal and Grey Wicker, along with Brad Blackwell, for making this a well organized event for everyone who came out to support Meals on Wheels.
Joe Standridge – Marshal Brian Snavely – Assistant Marshal
