Thank you for signing up to judge the 2023 Project Host BBQ competition being held on the warning track inside the Greenville Drive baseball stadium at Fluor Field on Saturday September 23rd.
This year’s judging will take place inside the team’s meeting room located next to the team’s locker room; it’s private, air conditioned and has its own restroom for our use. I do not yet know the parking arrangements or what door we will be entering from so look for another message later this week and signs to navigate to our judging room.
The judge’s meeting will start promptly at 9:00 am and assignments have already been made for this event. Since there may be a walk from the parking area to the judging area, please plan accordingly so you’re not late.
If you will be advancing in rank at this event, please let us know so we can acknowledge your achievement and present you with your apron.
For a long and healthy life, smoking or vaping is discouraged, but if you must, it’s only permitted in designated areas.
Friday night ATB will be judged by volunteers from Project Host and Meals-On-Wheels; however, I need a few volunteers to be Receiving, Running and Table Captains for Friday night’s ATB, but you have to be inside and ready by 5:30.
This event is full and at last count we have 12 teams competing in Butts, 10 teams competing in Ribs and 9 teams competing in Brisket.
Saturday turn-in times are as follows:
10:00 am (9:50 am – 10:05 am) – Pork
11:00 am (10:50 am – 11:05 am) – Ribs (Team Option)
12:00 pm (11:50 am – 12:05 pm) – Brisket (Team Option)
Remember if you have a family member competing in this event or assisting a team, you will not be able to sit as a judge, but we can re-assign you to other duties. Please let us know ASAP if have a family member cooking in this event.
Also, please remember not to fraternize with the cook teams or enter their cooking area Saturday morning until all judging is officially over. After all judging has been completed, we encourage you to go out and talk with the teams and thank them. If you have the time, some teams may appreciate an extra hand so they can start cleaning before load out.
Lastly, if you are signed up for this event and are unable to attend for any reason, I ask that you please let us know ASAP because we are counting on your attendance.
We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday September 23, 2022.
