Jim was a Marshal, Table Captain, Ambassador, Calculator and a strong supporter of the SCBA. He was the guy who introduced us to pencils with erasers way back when we were all still using ball point pens, which when we messed up or changed scores made for a hard to read score sheet. Believe it or not, something as simple as that made a big difference. He was the fellow who put up our first website.
Jim always made a difference wherever he was. He was a big help to me back when I was still Marshaling. He lived at Lake Murray and came by to see me (always calling first) several times a year to discuss the SCBA.
In his younger days he drove for NASCAR at Darlington and other race tracts and when he was older he flew his own airplane to various BBQ round ups all up and down the east coast. When he was 90 and they wouldn’t renew his pilot’s license he went out to Oregon and bought an ultra light craft and flew it back home. At the time I told him that was a foolish thing to do. But you can’t keep a good man down.
We should all try to be a good as Jim Streeter was.
