Happy Thanksgiving! Our 2018 SCBA season is winding down with our last event in Union, SC Nov 30- Dec. 1, 2018.
We will post the application for the SCBA FREE cook school on Sunday December 2, 2018. Please see the information below for eligibility requirements.
On behalf of the cook teams, we sincerely thank the SCBA for sponsoring this class each year for our dedicated cook teams.
The competition class will be taught by SCBA MBA champions. The class will be held January 19, 2019 at the Pineview Ruritan Clubhouse, 1130 Methodist Park Rd. West Columbia, SC 29169.
Please see the eligibility requirements:
1. Must be a SCBA member in good standing.
2. Must cook a minimum of 3 SCBA contests in 2018.
3. Must not have placed in the top 3 in any of the “main meat” categories. “Main Meats” are defined as is Butts for all contests except Juneteenth and Kingstree. Main Meat for Juneteenth is Ribs and Whole Hog for Kingstree.
4. May not attend SCBA FREE school more than twice.
The application process will begin December 2, 2018. The class will be limited to the first 30 Pitmasters to request and respond via US Post Mark on their physically mailed application.
All applications must be mailed via the USPS and no electronic applications will be accepted. We can not hold any class slots in advance.
As in years past, only one Pitmaster per team may register until we gauge the turn out. We are happy to allow additional team members to attend just want to make sure we have the space and allow as many teams to attend as possible. The class has always sold out and seen huge successes on the circuit!
This year the curriculum will include multiple pork / Rib turn-in boxes and even a mock SCBA Judging. Your lunch will be included along with door prizes and a few other neat additions.
