We are looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, October 21, 2017 for the 8th Annual Trojan Cook-Off! This is part of Anderson University’s Homecoming festivities.
The location of the event is 431 Williamston Road – Hwy 29, Anderson, SC 29621.
The Judge’s meeting will begin promptly at 9:00 am on Saturday.
If you are advancing in the SCBA and will be receiving a hat or apron please be sure to let Kelly know in advance.
Please remember that if you have a family member cooking in the event you will not be able to judge but we will gladly assign you another duty.
Turn in time for butts is 10:00 am, turn in time for ribs is 11:00 am, and the award ceremony is at 1:45 pm.
If you are planning to be in the area Friday night you are welcome to help out with the Anything But Pork competition. Judging for this will take place at 7:00 pm and there are both savory and dessert categories. Please let Kelly know if you wish to help out with this.
Here is a note from Bradley Orr, the festival planner:
Dear Judges:
I again want to thank each of you for participating in the 8th Annual Trojan Cook-Off. This event would not be possible without the SCBA and you. We are again delighted to be in partnership to make this year’s event a great one.
For your reference, you will find attached a map of the Athletic Campus, a schedule of events for the entire weekend, and the original entry form. (Kelly has emailed to judges.) We currently look like we will have 16 teams in attendance which is awesome.
Notes:
1. The physical address of the competition is 431 Williamston Road - Hwy. 29, Anderson, SC 29621. (This is the former Anderson Fairgrounds site -- now the AU Athletic Campus.) As you arrive on Friday, please enter at Gate 1 and park in the area next to the Pavilion. We will have a registration and welcome area set up next to the Pavilion (#16 on Map). On Saturday all parking other than those with limited mobility will be in the general parking area across from Gate 3 on the map. You will then walk into Gate 2 and to the Pavilion. Anyone with limited mobility will enter Gate 1 and be parked in the section marked as handicap parking next to the pavilion.
2. Each judge will be given one patron pass on arrival on Saturday. It is simply an arm band that allows them to enjoy the festivities at the Athletic Campus.
If you have questions in advance, please e-mail me at borr@andersonuniversity.edu or call me directly at 864-231-2102. We want to put our best foot forward and have a great time in the process.
Nothing but the best,
Bradley Orr
Please contact Kelly or William if you have any questions or are unable to attend.
Thank you so much!
