The team for this event includes Joe Stanridge as Assistant Marshal and Rod Nixon as Calculator.
Starting on Friday night there is an Anything But competition with turn in at 7 pm. If you are available and would like to help with this you are more than welcome to join us. There will be live entertainment from the sons of the Bellamy Brothers on Friday evening.
We start Saturday with our judges meeting at 9 am promptly. Please make every effort to be on time as we have a lot to review.
Please note, if you have judged in Chester before, our judging location has changed! We are now in the Chester County Chamber of Commerce building which is a few doors up from the restaurant we previously judged in. The address is 109 Gadsden St. There is limited parking in the rear of the Chamber building – do not block the back steps leading to the Chamber building or the alleyway leading to Gadsden Street. Look for the Judges signs. There is also parking available on Gadsden Street in front of the Chamber Building.
We currently have a strong list of 16 cooks participating, with the possibility of a few additions before the week is over.
We will be judging 3 categories Saturday, so please come hungry! We will start with Butts at the usual time of 10:00 am, followed by Ribs at 11:00 am and Baked Beans at 11:30 am. Beans will be judged using the same criteria as butts and ribs.
Please let me know if you will be receiving your apron or advancing to Senior or Master judge so we can have the proper supplies.
Remember, if you have a family member cooking you cannot judge, but there will be other duties you can perform. Please let me know if you fall into this category.
Prior to judging, do not fraternize with the cooks.
Do not bring your own zip lock bags of any size.…if needed, they will be provided
With three events this weekend, our active judges are stretched pretty thin. If you have signed up to judge in Chester, I need to know as soon as possible if your plans have changed.
This weekend is a challenge for SCBA to determine if we can handle 3 events should this situation arise again. Let’s prove that we can do it!
Plan to stay and enjoy the event which includes a local talent contest “Hollerin’ on the Hill” and a Pilot Club Yard Sale. Awards at 2:00pm.
Again, Thank you so much for signing up to judge in Chester. It should be a fun and exciting time for everyone.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
