you say the points were not awarded because the meat did not or possibly would not come from the right place.I am fairly new at this, but have seen cookers with campers, motorhomes and enclosed trailers at scba events and have never seen any of these things inspected to be sure there was no meat in coolers at any of these events.also wasnt there a rib contest where everyone brought their own ribs and that was scored.

: The Events Calendar on the Message Board list
: all the events in South Carolina of which we
: are aware and the dates of which we are
: informed.
:
: The red are the ones the SCBA judges and the
: green are the ones we do not judge. It has
: nothing to do with MBA. The legend on the
: Events Calendar page says nothing about MBA
: it only refers to those that we judge and
: which others judge.
:
: This year the SCBA awards MBA points for all
: events which we judge that are SCBA only
: events and which are not “invitational;”
: that is, where any team that wished to
: participate may do so. This I clearly
: stated in my previous message. Also, as I
: clearly stated, we have never awarded MBA
: points in the Best of the Best in any of the
: previous years. That statement was as clear
: as I could make it.
:
: MBA points were not awarded at Myrtle Beach
: because KCBS teams were allowed by the
: organizers, for their own financial reasons,
: to also enter the SCBA contest. Since the
: meat source for KCBS was different from the
: meat source for the SCBA teams it would not
: have been fair to SCBA teams to have to
: compete against KCBS teams. That was also
: clearly stated on the Message Board three
: weeks before the Myrtle Beach event. Please
: be reminded that the SCBA did not change
: that entry rule (the Shrine did) and they
: did so over our objections.
:
: This year’s MBA, by the way, is slightly
: different from last year where the event
: promoter decided if they wanted to award
: points and paid a separate fee to do so.
: This year, as I say, all events saw points
: awarded except the invitational event.
:
: To try to make more of these clearly stated
: positions than actually exist does us all a
: disservice.

: just for the record there were 43 teams
: invited to yhe best of the best not 16 as
: you were told.this event was highlighted in
: pink which is to indicate it was a points
: scoring event. the events in green indicate
: this is not a points scoring event.is it
: just coincidence that this event is also
: sponsored by the same people that you took
: the points away from the week before. maybe
: it would be nice if someone could put out a
: list of which events you are going to score
: the points for.

: Greg Gladney called and reminded me (I had
: forgotten) that we have never awarded MBA
: points at the Best of the Best because it is
: an invitational event and all cookers,
: therefore, are not eligible to enter. We
: only give points in those events where
: everyone may enter if they wish.
:
: We did not give points last year (or the
: year before) nor will we be giving points
: this year either.
:
: Since the Shrine moved the Best of the Best
: from the end of the year (as it was last
: year) to September, there were only 16 teams
: eligible this year because many of the
: events the SCBA judges had not taken place.
:
: Sorry for the confusion.
