Judging BBQ

Our church is sponsoring a BBQ cookoff to raise money for the building fund. It's just going to be a community event, and members of the church will be doing the judging. But we were wondering, while judging the BBQ, do the judges drink or eat anything between tasting the different BBQ's to be able to distinguish one BBQ from the other? I'm sure the judging won't be nearly as involved as a SCBA event, but we would like it to be as fair as possible.
