The SCBA has a set of written rules that we make available to the event organizers if they want a set to include in their packages. So far only a couple has bothered to include them because the rules are few and simple.
They are:
Nothing in the box except barbeque
No markings on the box or inside it
No sauce “on the side;” that is, none in containers
No undercooked meat
Anyone disqualified by the event organizer, for whatever reason, is disqualified as far as the SCBA is concerned
Any heat source can be used to cook with
Most of the rules concerning any event are set by the event organizers not the SCBA. The SCBA is only concerned with the judging of the barbeque.
