A pity this, Notts gave a good account of themselves but were beaten by a team in a higher league. They were fitter and better organised than us and it showed towards the end. Notts started without Hughes and lacked the edge in front of goal. They started as determined as before but the wing crosses were not an option and it was a long haul through a fairly solid opposition. Donny soaked it all up well but were denied only by the post on two occasions.Notts deserved to be in front and should have scored at least three times before the break. As usual with away sides, they came out much stronger in the second and pushed forward a little more.Their goal came from only their second chance but it was well taken. After that Notts lost a lot of shape and their passing went to pot but they rallied and Hughes should have equalised near the end. They were beaten by a better side but performed creditably and whereas before we might have seen the same pattern in the game, it would have been against lower division opposition.
