so being as Mr M is feeling poorly. i guess i'd set up the first game of our New era season. With all that's been going off over the summer and having watched the team play Arnold, F****t, and Derby we are going to see a much better side than what kicked off against Bradford than last year. Our defence is solid from left to right and i think the one shining star in there will be Graham Lee, the midfield is proberbley the best i've seen down the lane in almost 20 years, we have players that like to get stuck in like bishop & Ravenhill. Davies will command the middle of the park with his hold up play and the deliveries seem so far to be spot on, i wouldn't mind seeing wescarr on the left side untill we can get a proper LW player. Now we move onto the strike force, and what a pair they have been, they actually got me buzzing everytime rodgers & hughes get the ball because you know they are either going to belt it in the onion bag or bloody close. also they work sooooo well together i feel sorry for Karl Hawley, but Hughes is getting on a bit and i'm sure he'll get injered so he'll be called into action. Within the first 10 games i can see the other strikers going on loan. THANK GOD However the one thing that still worries me is those bloody Floppsy's Hoult & Pilks, i hope and pray that Charlie & Sven has told um if they don't shape up they'll be signing on the dole sooner rarther than later Prediction: Notts 3-1 Bradford

Well I suppose it would be churlish of me to start a new thread on the same game! Mind you, not to sure who these Bantoms are though? Fot the first time in years are Notts due the label, the Mighty Magpies. Will this truly be a new dawn? Will the sun finally shine down on Meadow Lane for season after joyous season in the decades to come? The squad that Chas has assembled has 70 goals in it and you need to score that many to win the title. I expect Hughes alone to score 25 if not 30 goals. Even at 33 he's going to be far too good for this division, he's never played in this league before, having gone from the conference to the old second division where he scored for fun before his disastrous driving episode. Rodgers and Hawley could easily get 20 goals each but I think Chas will only play one of them, it's up to them to fight it out. Davies on past form will get 10 to 15 and the rest of the midfield will no doubt chip in. If Chas can get a decent left winger we really are in business. I'm not too pleased about the lack of pace with our centre backs Lee and Thompson and the two goalies leave a lot to be desired. If only we could get Henderson back. All in all though it is definitely a squad that will get us into the play-offs will it take us up automatically? Shrewsbury a big threat have lost two of their best players in Holt and Davies and Rotherham will finsd Reuben difficult to replace. Bradford are having financial problems, which meand we can afford 2 others to have a good season. Rochdale and Bury? Bournmouth are restricted financially but could be up there as well. Saturday should give us a good gate, over 10,000 maybe 12,000. It's the first time I've bought a season ticket in 45 years and won't be able to make the match!!! I also predict a 3-1 win. We'l score a lot of goals this season but is the defence up to it?? WE'RE THE ONE AND ONLY EXILES................GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR NORMAL SERVICE WILL RESUME FOR THE NEXT LEAGUE MATCH.....................THANK YOU CAPTAIN.

Well, as Canuck & M64 are being so cheerful, i'll have to play devils advocate! With everything so positive involving Notts at the moment, one can't help but expect to walk round the corner & get hit by a truck! In this case - Bradford, who could be considered a bogey team & they have a player who always scores against us in Thorne! Like all Notts supporters, i expect success this season, but, could this be the 1st knock back? Although in friendlies Notts have looked decent (ish), they have still conceded stupid goals & that could cost us! Then there's the question of which players Charlie will pick & in what formation will he play them? All things considered, although i hesitate to predict a possible loss, i can quite easily picture it being a draw, so, i'll go for 1-1, Davies for us, Thorne for them!

I'm going early although my seat has been given away to some poxy Bradford fans ! I'm hoping the team lives up to your lots billing nevermi nd the press expectations. I agree we are probably still making silly mistakes but, trying to be positive, the league has been weak over the past few years. We don't have to be unbeatable, just much better than what we were.I can't be as positive as you guys as I have my rep to protect but finger crossed and lets beat those nasty, arrogant yorkshiremen...

Hughes and Rodgers really tore into Bradford today. The side was workmanlike but those two seized on everything remotely playable and turned it into a goalscoring chance. We could have had three more in the second than we did had it not been for some bad reffing.We've all moaned about the lack of strikers for ages now two have come together.
