Well I suppose it would be churlish of me to start a new thread on the same game! Mind you, not to sure who these Bantoms are though?
Fot the first time in years are Notts due the label, the Mighty Magpies. Will this truly be a new dawn? Will the sun finally shine down on Meadow Lane for season after joyous season in the decades to come?
The squad that Chas has assembled has 70 goals in it and you need to score that many to win the title.
I expect Hughes alone to score 25 if not 30 goals. Even at 33 he's going to be far too good for this division, he's never played in this league before, having gone from the conference to the old second division where he scored for fun before his disastrous driving episode.
Rodgers and Hawley could easily get 20 goals each but I think Chas will only play one of them, it's up to them to fight it out.
Davies on past form will get 10 to 15 and the rest of the midfield will no doubt chip in.
If Chas can get a decent left winger we really are in business.
I'm not too pleased about the lack of pace with our centre backs Lee and Thompson and the two goalies leave a lot to be desired. If only we could get Henderson back.
All in all though it is definitely a squad that will get us into the play-offs will it take us up automatically? Shrewsbury a big threat have lost two of their best players in Holt and Davies and Rotherham will finsd Reuben difficult to replace.
Bradford are having financial problems, which meand we can afford 2 others to have a good season. Rochdale and Bury? Bournmouth are restricted financially but could be up there as well.
Saturday should give us a good gate, over 10,000 maybe 12,000.
It's the first time I've bought a season ticket in 45 years and won't be able to make the match!!!
I also predict a 3-1 win. We'l score a lot of goals this season but is the defence up to it??
