Posted by Helen Srivastava Dubai Center for Special Needs is a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to providing Special Education, Multi-Disciplinary Therapeutic Intervention and Vocational Training to children with disabilities. Currently, the center caters to the needs of approximately 125 students with various disabilities (learning disabilities, hearing impairment, autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, among others) and range in age from 3 ½ up to about 24 years in age. The students are divided according to their ages and abilities into classes of 8 to 10 students with two teachers in each class. The main curriculum at the center is in English, with Arabic Classes for most of the students. The programs for the students are developed along the lines of the American System of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The Center offers a tax-free salary (commensurate with qualifications and experience), a furnished one-bedroom accommodation, yearly return ticket during the summer holidays to the country of origin and visa sponsorship. In addition, the working hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday to Wednesday, with two months paid summer holidays (July and August), as well as approximately two weeks holidays at the end of December and approximately two weeks towards the end of March. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of bachelors degree and 4 years of pediatric experience. Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English are necessary.
