Posted by Mike In the latest battle of Pittsburgh vs. the Pens, Mario told the city that he would never sell the Pens, but he will sell the team if Pittsburgh continues to make them play in the relic called the Mellon Arena. Pittsburgh city officials said that there is no room in the budget for improving/rebuilding the arena. Now, please excuse me for just one moment now, but didn't the city of Pittsburgh just use public funds to build not one but TWO BRAND NEW STADIUMS for the "other" Pittsburgh teams.

Has anyone heard the news lately?
Lets see here, the Pirates, in their BRAND NEW PNC Park are what, about a thousand game out of .500?
And the Steelers will start their next season in the BRAND NEW Heinz Stadium. Um, is that the same Steelers that haven't won a Super Bowl since 1980?
All I know is that I am sick and tired of the apathy of Pittsburgh towards it's most successful team. I can still remember when just a few years ago, the Pens were facing Bancrupcy and possibly being moved out of town, and the top sports news that day was the Steelers/Browns roast luncheon...um...ok... And still that same apathy burns as Pittsburgh tore down it's average stadium for TWO brand new state of art facilites, while they refuse to touch the Igloo, which is the oldest arena in the NHL.
Will the Penguins move to Portland before the "'Burgh" wakes up?!?
