Hi Sharon!
I hope you haven't given up on me responding back! I have been thinking about you often too! I thought maybe you stopped coming in here. It got really slow in here during the summer months and almost no posts at all in the Fall when I would check it out so I haven't been coming in here as much; but I still do check every so often.
In May it will be 2 years since I got the ball rolling on looking into dental implants and one year when I actually got most of the implants in my mouth. I am loving my bottom temporary Overdenture! In October, I got the last of the implants put in my upper right jaw and I am waiting for my appointment to go get x-rayed, on 15February, to see how healing went. Then my Oral Surgeon and Prothodontist will figure out the timeline for the rest of the work. They hope to have me completely done by June. We'll see. It is going well and I am very pleased with my progress so far. I, too, am hoping it won't take long to get used to the permanent Ovedentures. It took me seven weeks to get used to the temporary teeth and now I am really used to them and loving the bottom ones now that they have the snaps on them. I'm looking forward to saying good-bye to Fixodent forever once the top ones get snaps on them.
I have two implants in the bottom jaw to support the bottom overdenture and it's really holding well. I really have to tug at it to get it out so my Prothodontist thinks he may not use all 4 of the upper implants when he puts the snaps on the upper temporary teeth. He is afraid I won't be able to get them out if they are too strong of a hold for me. This should be interesting!
How did the permanent Overdentures go for you? I am looking forward to reading about it soon!
I have a question for you. How soon after your implants were uncovered, did you get the snaps on your teeth. My Prothodontist is letting me decide how long I want to be without my front teeth. He recommends 3-5 days after the uncovering. I don't want to be sore at all when I go in for the snaps to be put on and the healing caps taken off. For my bottom ones, my appointment was on the 6th day after the uncovering surgery and my gums were still very tender. I was glad when he didn't have the right post for my implants and I had to go back after he came back from vacation 10 days later. It was much more comfortable! I was just wandering how soon you had your done. I could have taken it on the 6th day but I was glad for the wait and to let all the tenderness go away.
It has been quite a journey! I am so glad I found this site in the beginning and found people like you to share experiences with! Thanks, Sharon! I really appreciate all your advice, comments and support! Missed you these past few months and I hope to "hear" from you again. I want to know how you are doing.
Take care! Patti
