Hi Don, I see you got a lot of good support and advice so far. If you can afford it, I say get the implant. I know quite a few people who have one implant and they are thrilled with it! I had a bridge years ago and food tended to get stuck under it if I wasn't careful. I didn't miss it when it finally broke and I had to get a pedi partial instead. I am in the process of getting implant supported Overdentures which to describe it better would be a full set of dentures that clip on and off of 4 implants on the upper jaw and 2 implants on the bottom jaw. My implant journey has been a year in the making while I went through all the tests to find out what I was a candidate for since at the age of 48 I only had baby teeth in my mouth and the remaining ones were coming loose so I had to do something besides just go toothless since I am not a candidate for regular dentures due to the shape and structure of my mouth. But, hey I am doing pretty darn good with my temporary teeth since surgery day! My surgery was on May 31st and I got 13 teeth extracted, bone grafting of both jawbones and implants put in all but the upper right jaw. They found a bad infection up there on surgery day so they had to clean it out and put me on antibiotics and then let me heal before they can put the implants in the upper right jawbone. All in all, I will have 4 implants in the upper jaw and 2 in the bottom that will support an implant supported Overdenture. My surgery went well. I had no pain afterwards...just a bit of a pressure headache probably from the infection being cleaned out. So far so good and tonight I am one happy camper that I went this route. Good luck to you!
