Hi Michelle, I had my implant surgery on May 31st under general anesthesia. I had all my remaining baby teeth (13) extracted and bone grafting done of both jawbones and then the plan was to put in 4 implants up top and two on the bottom; but my surgeon found a nasty infection in my right upper jaw that he only saw as a minor infection on the CT scan before surgery. He had to clean that all out and now I have to wait 3 to 6 months for implants to go in the top right upper jaw. I want you to know that except for a slight pressure headache on the right side of my head, I was not in any pain after the surgery or during the first week. I was really amazed about that! I had so much anesthesia in me that I could not feel pain plus the surgeon must have used some kind of numbing agent because I can start feeling things like my lips and gums. I am not currently working at this time; but if I were I would have had to take either half days or the whole week off due to being on Vicoden for the head pressure and an antibiotic and having the anesthesia come out of me over the course of the week. I take a 2 hour nap everyday since the surgery. All in all, I am very pleased with the way my surgery went! I had myself all worked up in the weeks before the operation about how it would go and if I would be sick as a dog afterwards. My fears were unfounded. I just need a 2 hour nap each day and smaller meals or snacks more often throughout the day. I just got my temporary teeth yesterday and now I am trying to get used to a mouthful of teeth. I don't think I ever had a full set of teeth in my life. It will take time to get used to them. Good luck to you with your surgery!
