Thanks Patti! For a couple of days right after surgery, while I experienced a tiny bit of pain and minimal swelling, it was easier to eat very smooth cold foods that didn't require any chewing. The cold really soothed the gums. I was told by my surgeon to avoid hot and spicy foods until the gums heal (2 weeks). After that, anything I can cut with a fork is fine. So, meatloaf instead of steak, as an example. Also, until osseointegration is complete (a few months) I have to avoid biting or tearing anything with my front teeth, so no apples or pizza slices.
But, of course, follow YOUR dentist's advice because you may be given slightly different instructions for different reasons.
