Don't worry about how long they last: they are permanent!! This is something I did tons of research on. As long as you keep proper care of your implants by flossing/ brushing they are forever!!! And you are right that science keeps advancing and getting better and better. There will probably be even more options in the future. Yes, your price is about right. I think most implants cost $3,500 and $5,500. I hadn't really thought about age that much. People of all ages have dental or medical issues so I definetly wouldn't judge anyone!!
