Do you have a favorite feature or trait of Gene? >

Is it her ivory complexion, her beautiful face shape/sculpt, her elegant neck and shoulderline, her sweet disposition, her posture, her stylish hair which can be restyled so well, her clothes, or her well-proportioned body? Or is there something else that makes her appeal to you more than other dolls?

I love her cute lips/mouth. Repainters have done a wonderful job reshaping her mouth.

But it's always unique, no matter the interpretation. I love her total 40s/50s fashion look. But, most of all I love that Gene's persona is so flexible...she can be vintage or modern. I really love her scultp. Thanks, Mel. Good question, Amanda!

from the pics of her in the forties, when she was engaged to Dad durng the war.

I had JAC do a repaint of her from a wedding photo. It was a Love at First Sight, and I left the originnal hairstyle.

Also, when I first got her, I dressed White Hyacinth in Goodbye New york---loved it!

...looked like a DOLL ! When I first discovered "fashion doll" I was presented with two different types : Gene and Tyler. While I always felt Tyler and her outfits were fantastic ( talking about the original offerings ) there was something "uncomfortable" about it for me. She looked "too real", although to some it would be the exact reason for the attraction. To me, I prefer a doll that looks like "a doll". For the same reason I much prefer the earlier Gene dolls, without the extra articulations because she looks like "a doll".

The same references apply to all of the dolls that have caught my attention. It they look "too real" I am not a huge fan.

A doll is a doll is a doll.

... and GENE will always remain the queen of all fashion dolls for me.

greatly to my interest and that's why I first bought her after seeing her in a Collectibles magazine. Although I have many other dolls too, she is the lynch pin in the collection as most of the others have to fit in with her storyline/theme.

She was the first of her height....and we all thought that she was HUGE!!!!! (compared to Barbie)
The Hollywood background gave her a real personality and life experience. It made it that much easier to fall in love with her.

Madra, Trent, Violet, Ivy, Zita, Oona and even Marsha Hunt. Each has contributed their distinct individuality to Gene's life and story line.

Her hair, her serene facial expression and her "skin" which looked and felt like porcelain.
Her wardrobe was excellent. Little did I know that it was the start of a fifteen year odyssey to find perfection! Many other dolls have come and gone since, but there will never be another like Gene!
