1st of all I'm glad I won this. She is a blonde simply gene mib from 2002.

I had had this doll and sold her but I decided about a month ago that I wanted to find her again.

I put a much higher bid on her because I wanted her and I didn't think it would go that high. I didn't have time to monitor the auction so I put in what I thought was a higher bid than anyone would want her for and just left her be.

Well she went much higher than I thought! Is Blonde 2002 Simply Gene rare or did a bunch of people feel as I did and just want her?

I don't regret, just curious! Any thoughts?

I think she is the ONLY "Simply Gene" with bendy arms==

the only AD Gene that was released with 2 different style bodies. Both bodies had swivel waists.

Congrats on your win of the doll. I'm sorry I helped to bid her up higher, but I did drop out at around $100 that was my max for her. And was shocked at the end bid price.

I had not bought her when she was first out because there were so many other dolls that I wanted and I thougth I could always pick her up later.

I was really happy that the complete doll came up for auction. I wanted the original complete doll not a head on a Wu body.

While looking in my Gene info. today most of the dolls for 2002 were 2500-3750 pieces, but I didn't find a production run number for the simply Gene but her original price was $59.95. This was the year that several items were canceled Ooh La La Violet, Madra from the Starlight Canteen series, Madra's cocktails for two set, Trents Jacket required outfit, Champagne flight outfit, the set of 3 Gene ornaments.

This 2002 will technically be the third one I bought since my one Gene repaint is a repainted 2002

I liked her hair color too better than the original blonde simply gene. In any case I'll post pics of her when she arrives

It's a beautiful doll and from what I have read here , in a HTF outfit and in great shape.

she is on the yellowing list. Mine turned completely yellow in her box and when I body swapped her, her rubber bands broke in her ponytail from the heat.

She is one of my favorite dolls because she has that classic AD Gene face before they changed her face in 2004.

It looks to me like there was a small bidding war, maybe because it was listed as a possible sample doll, but without proof it won't increase the resale value.

In fact I was a little nervous about her being listed as rare. It was ironic the seller listed an Alice Blue Gown Madra (who is rare!!!) and the Madra actually sold for less than Simply Gene!!!??? I'm okay with what I paid even though I'm pretty sure it was way too much. I think maybe my bidding competitors were thinking it was a rare doll.

I think you will be quite happy with her, it was hard to get a price for her >>

because there were no completed auctions on her to look at. I haven't seen her very often on Ebay so doll collectors must be holding on to her.

As long as you are okay with her possibly yellowing. I put her on a Simply Brunette body and she looks fine even without the bendy elbows. I was able to restore her hairdo but next time I will tighten rubber bands with thread before I body swap just in case they break.

you will get bids from people who were outbid.
I would mention about the original bodies yellowing too--maybe add a buy-it-now....

Or on the 1999 -2001 Simply bodies, so far they are still pink >>

I think it was you Amanda I thought she was fine and she was yellowed so I swapped her body out. We will see what I get when she arrives. I decided about a month or two ago that I was happy with all the Integrity Genes I had but I "needed" (ha!) some AD Genes. I have a few of my AD Madras but I only had a AD Gene repaint.
Now with getting a bon bon head, another Raven Simply and this 2002 Simply I think I am truly "done"! ;-)

Well I don't know Rosanna, but I have been wanting to get her too

I didn't buy her, but I remember having a hard time finding anyone that could sell me just her swim suit a few years ago when I was collecting just the swim suits. (A very nice Gene friend was finally able to help me get it)
