Well, I was there at the convention, and loved it and all. I especially loved the biltmore tour and all the history that went with it. It was fabulous. I love the history of the gown and all that goes with it, but I just don't like it. It's hard to explain. It's a love-hate thing. I love the colors and the pattern, but just not the design of it. And, of course, the history of it is just wonderful. But, there are lots of things in history that I find fascinating, and I just don't like. This gown was always one of them. j However, I do think that given the period in time, it is simply fantastic (fashionwise) that someone had the "idea" to design a gown that actually looked like a chandelier! That is fabulous. But, for some strange reason, I just don't like it! Sandra and I fight about stuff like this all the time. It's quite comical! LOL! I did have the opportunity to acquire the fabric for it, and at the time, I was not quite sure what I would have done with it. Probably worked it into a Dior or a Chanel suit! However, I probably would have used it for drapes in a Gene prop! I do think the re-creation of the gown for Gene was fabulous. It was just wonderful. I have sinking feeling that Peggy Hamilton was the grandmother of "Lady Ga-Ga." Now, some things she wears I love, and some things she wears makes me think of this gown. It's just way out there, and for it's time, it was in outter space. I think back and only wish I lived during that time and wish I could have actually seen the gown in person! That would have been fun! But I agree, the history of the Biltmore was my favorite of all the Gene conventions. Of course, that and staying up almost all night eating "kool pops" at my home in Las Vegas helping Sandra work out the convention outfit for the 10th anniversary Gene! That was fun. Designing the giant hatbox, working out the "platters" with outfits on them, and how they would be presented, and when. Making the prototypes. It was fun. I donated many Gene outfits to that project! But it was well worth it. I do still have all my convention dolls. I have them all except the "witch." I'm trying to do my best to hold on to those! Wonderful stuff. Tom
